Ours is pretty swank and fun. But like any party it's as fun as you make it. The form provides the drinks, theme, and the food. The rest is up to us. People do pre parties by level at someone's house and then head to the main party. My spouse enjoys meeting the people im always talking about.
For people that don’t go, what would make you want to go? I feel like for many that don’t go, nothing would make them want to go, and that’s fine. But then don’t complain that there’s no networking opportunities.
Our party is in mid-January, so the timing is a bit anticlimactic given the “season” is over. We do get a paid disconnect over the holidays which is very nice.
Opting out more recently as work is too busy, the time of partying hard has died down or at least the people I used to party hard with are no longer around, and firms are making it more and more difficult to do anything fun anyway. Opting for mid-day lunches with a vibe of “get back to work after”
I try to find a reason to miss ours. They’ve never been anything less than painful. I don’t need to spend my family time that way, and I definitely don’t want to pay a sitter for the night.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
I go for the optics, nothing more
We have nothing. After working all year a little something would be nice, but it’s just the way things are.
Yes we do and I’m looking forward to it, I’m just worried I may get overstimulated or experience sensory overload. I’m on the spectrum and there will be like 150 people there. I asked them if I can take breaks if it becomes too much and they said yes. I’m glad I have an employer who understands that it’s basically a sensory nightmare for me, BUT I don’t want to be a party pooper. Plus there is a raffle and cool giveaways, food, treats etc. (I don’t plan to overindulge ha ha).

As a school social worker, I serviced 5 or 6 schools in my district every year, other than my last. I’d be invited to lots of celebrations at ppls houses at Christmas and end of the yr. I never went.

I do like a holiday party as an acknowledgement of a job well done. It doesn't need to be in December. In fact, I'd probably prefer it to be a different month. But I'm not sure I'd like this boat scenario. I always like to have an escape route lol
😬😬 I’m not a fan of any type of work related party, especially on a boat. A customer appreciation event is good. An awards banquet is a great way to show appreciation and strengthen workplace relations. I personally like sticking to small groups…like several guys going golfing, fishing or maybe to a sporting event. The girls getting together doing whatever girls do.
Not sure why it's funny .

We got an individual Christmas pudding and a half bottle of wine (total cost about £10 ). That was it! No office party on offer and I work for a big worldwide company
