Any work or use to work at Chartwells K12
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Absolutely, I think this is a pretty common practice. A lot of companies want to see that you will be a good fit in the position before they offer up extra money.
That is honestly a great idea. I have never thought to ask for a pay review in the future as part of my package. Thank you for sharing this.
No, in my experience that usually doesn’t work out well. But glad it worked out for you. I think it’s better to get the correct and rightfully deserved pay from the beginning. Most of the time companies “promise” they’ll revisit compensation but rarely ever do. And honestly, what real difference does 6 months make? If they can give it to you in 6 months, why not just give it to you now?
Also, I guess it does depend on skill level and years of experience. I personally wouldn’t negotiate something like because I know what I bring to the table so I would want to be compensated properly from the beginning. But I can understand if someone who is newer to their industry and to the job market wants to negotiate something like that.
I hope you are not downsized after 5.5 months
