At the national level there is plenty of evidence that this would reduce the issue more than a little bit.

Do you agree that the average immigrant commits fewer violent crimes than the average citizen and therefore the current approach to immigration reduces the violent crime in the US (even if bad ones get through)?
The nuance might be in the actual policy. I don't want to severely limit immigration or focus resources on blunt deportation raids. I think law enforcement should spend more time per citizen than per immigrant. Given that less than 10% of the population are not citizens and citizens are far more likely to commit crimes, I think a reasonable allocation of resources would be something like 95/5 or 98/2 for citizen / immigrant law enforcement. It's more conceptual than directional, but the point is that our current level of border security is nowhere near as big of an issue as general crime or countless other social issues. We should prioritize our efforts and resources elsewhere.

Absolutely… we can agree on that. I’m more of the mind your own business mindset and don’t think we should be getting involved with Iran, Venezuela, etc. so disagree with a lot of what Trump is doing. That said, I can still understand why it’s happening and have to appreciate the celebration from people who have actually lived in those countries, as well as why many view those governments as cancerous on a global scale.

No, actually, I was pointing out that this is what Republicans need. When something like this happens, it lets them distract their voters from all the horrible things their party is doing to them. Epstein, Iran, grocery and gas prices...it's bad news everywhere. Then a random crime happens and they eat it like oxygen. "Thank god we can blame it all on these people!"
