Ever feel like the people making the big decisions don’t always get what it’s like for regular folks — or even for those of us working on the front lines in government?
Makes me wonder… who is the system really built for?

I've seen that some leaders are not familiar with the day to day realities and make decisions that don't make sense. With that being said, I don't think all decision makers are that way. There are leaders out there who are familiar and making decisions based on their time in the community. It's not perfect of course, but I think things are shifting.

I also feel like things are slowly shifting. I think that as much hate as gen z's get they are part of that shift and have been forcing management to reevaluate.

I want to share this with you . Henry Ford said " If you think you can " , or " you think you can't " . You are right . The daily tragedies have motivated me to inspire anyone to compliment my efforts.. There is opportunity to be found amongst the caios . What I have experienced is the " " "doesn't make any sense " rebutel " . The titanic is sinking. It really doesn't matter who is smarter . Donald Trump is the smartest one . And look what is happening to him . I am suggesting that we focus on what we can do . Instead of planning on all the things that we can't do . " If you think you can " is a productive approach .

That's a good way of looking at it. Thanks for sharing those quotes! 😁

Hey, everyone! Hoping someone may have a lead for a free online database for training approvals and registrations? It doesn’t need to be fancy! I’m in a new role in the public sector and am trying to move them out of Outlook and Excel messiness for training registrations. I’m just looking to streamline and centralize the process. (We don’t have SharePoint or any centralized database.) Thanks in advance!

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Tried researching this for hours but only found info on applying to other agencies.

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?

I currently work in Private (GA) Aviation & have for some time (about 12 years) I’m currently making the switch to the Department of Aviation and am unsure if I should ditch my current job (in private) and go full force with the DOA & embrace this new opportunity educationally and gather as much experience as I can or keep both jobs even though I’d be working 80hr weeks.. I love the private world but am really ready to move up. I don’t know what I should do. Any suggestions?

My supervisor gave me 8hours of AWOL because I couldn't show up one day because I was under anxiety. I have gave him letters from psychiatrist, psychologist that I'm passing through this. Hi everyone! I’m currently open to a new role after working for 5 years at my agency. Most of my work at the agency has involved management, community engagement, data analysis, communications, and visual design.
