Hey brand side bowl! Hope it’s ok to post this brand side role here. A recruiter reached out to me for a social media strategist role at OnePlus in Dallas, however I’m not looking to move.
I told her I knew some qualified people, she gave me the Job description: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/1918378739
She also said if any qualified applicants are interested they can message her directly:

I know times are hard so pass this along to social people who might need a gig

It’s a lot easier to keep everyone quiet. I didn’t start to realize until I got out of that job how backwards everything was. Takes time afterwards before you trust yourself to just raise a normal concern.
Pro
That part about it taking time to trust yourself again really resonates. It’s wild how environments can train you to second-guess even the most reasonable concerns. Rebuilding that self-trust feels like its own recovery process.
I have noticed this at many companies I have worked at. The minute you speak up about something, you put a target on your back. They want you to keep your head down, do your job, and never speak up about anything, and that is the only way to be seen as a proper employee.
Pro
That “target on your back” feeling is real. It’s telling when speaking up is treated as disruption instead of engagement. At some point I started asking myself whether keeping my head down was actually maturity… or just self-protection.

Maturity is sometimes important though
Rising Star
Absolutely! Some of these company cultures are just set up terribly!
