Feeling really burnt out lately. I’ve noticed I’m carrying almost the entire mental load in my relationship right now, and it's starting to weigh me down. I really need to talk to my partner about balancing things out, but I'm dreading the conversation. Any advice for bringing something like this up without it sparking a fight?

At face value: If it sparks a fight, then your partner has even more work to do than just mental load. I’ve learned to not opt into the fight, it’s a boundary I’ve learned to make in my marriage. If they have a melt down and lose it, that’s their own issue and I don’t have to mother him to make it palatable.
It’s possible there are other details I’m obviously not privy to which could mean it sparks a fight because it hasn’t been equitable for them for a long time and they got burnt out etc but that’s a side point if irrelevant.

Been married for 10 years now. Never has it been 50-50 in terms of load (emotional, financial, familial..) distribution between me and my partner. Sometimes its 80-20, other times its 20-80. When I feel ‘burnt out’, here is what has worked for me - Just be authentic, empathetic and solution-oriented in your conversation. Keep reminding yourself (and share your intent with your partner too!) why you are in this relationship and how much you want it to work!! It is just a matter of taking out time to share and listen intently. It will all work out!!

It’s sounds like this isn’t how it’s always been or has it been like this since the beginning of your relationship.
Increased stress can sometimes rob us of being able to identify what tasks to prioritize esp if those things are easily overlooked in the first place. Go into the conversation with a neutral stance. Let him know you need help. Take it from there. Good luck!

Let it go !!

How many of you biglaw associates are on your grind trying to recruit people to earn a big referral bonus? I’m treating it like a side gig. Ironic that my firm does not give associates any kind of origination credit. If they took the same philosophy with business development, I would direct my efforts there too.!

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!
