Fellow editors, I’m leaving somewhere where I’ve been in-house for 5 years, and was in-house 2 other place before that. I’m realizing that while I’m excellent at my craft, I’m not an excellent freelancer. Any advice for someone striking out on their own (and not in LA/NY)?

Just leverage those connections. Folks who’ve moved on from your old agencies. Studios you’ve worked with (and wanted to work with). Send a quick note when you see someone’s cool work or significant LinkedIn posting eg new job, award, etc. Post on your socials announcing your availability. Find other freelancers in your town and ask them who to talk to, we’re friendly! Keep a list of who you’ve talked to and when and then reach out again after 3-4 months. Just stay on people’s radar. Hopefully after a few years of hustling for work it’ll eventually get on autopilot and you won’t have to grind as much. You got this.

Hi Everyone, Started my career in government 5 years ago working in an operational role, then focussed on HR for 3 years working my way up to a middle manager role in HR as a business partner and completed my Level 7 CIPD. I don’t think HR or government is for me anymore and looking to find something new, now 24 feel I have a lot of transferable skills and knowledge but worried about private companies in other professions taking me seriously. Grateful for any advice - thanks in advance!

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Good morning friends, I’m currently working in a clinical healthcare role but want to transition into change mgmt (healthcare). How could I bolt onto a change mgmt engagement as an assistant or facilitator? Does anyone know of similar opportunities? All input is appreciated!

Hey, any corporate lawyer / in-house counsel / corporate counsel from India in this bowl? What do you think about the biggest challenge of moving from a law firm role to in-house role or vise versa?

Looking for book/material recommendations:
I’m starting a new job as a data engineer in the web analytics and user interactions space. I want to hit the ground running with a solid understanding of the space, how things are measured, the types of problems I’m going to run into that have already been solved, etc. My background is typical technical DE candidate (python, cloud, sql, spark) but in unrelated domains and mostly batch data warehouse type environments. Thanks in advance!

Articling in big law and getting sworn in soon. Got an in house offer at a big company, which pays more than big law and someone says they’re willing to mentor me. Wondering if I should make the jump? How hard would it be to go back to a law firm if I regret it. What i will be doing is very specific but also many other companies and law firms look for that., even though companies seem to outsource it less and less.

Roll call. How much experience? Do you staff in a boutique? An agency? Freelance? If freelance, do you usually work in agency studios, prodcos...? Do you bring on a post producer to help on big jobs?
