They are putting conditions like give your full commitment to join then only we'll release offer letter. I am currently looking for work life balance with growth. Been at both firms. If you truly care about your life/body, then get out of consulting, seriously 😔
Ey1 is right. If you are consistently “meeting expectations” then nothing beats work/life flexibility at EY.
Better if you're a low performer
Overall probably EY over Deloitte, but at deloitte it really varies per group and even more per project
Deloitte is too cut throat. Been on too many projects now where they make you skip the gym or make you work on holidays with an IDGAF attitude.
Easy to say but sometimes we have little control over how projects will shape out when you’re staffed.
IMO yes. There are some like EY1 that define high performer as killing yourself all the time. But , I’ve found EY to be pretty refreshing in this area. As M1 said it is still consulting. EY1 is also right that EY can carry some meh performers too long.
Same shit different color scheme tbh
Op you need to find better projects and leaders to work with at Deloitte. The whole firm is not like that
Sounds like it’s time for you to leave. Working somewhere you are not happy is no fun
OP, just to add more details. While EY feels more “laid-back”, that quickly goes away as you become an M/SM at either firms. So unless you are OK with being a tenured Senior, then this is the time for you to consider leaving consulting altogether. If you think skipping the gym is bad, you’ll be skipping a lot more, which sucks when you have kids 😔
OP which firm do you work with now?
Agree. But gotta get that bonus in September first! 🤑
EY doesnt push out low performers which sucks but also is less stressful
