Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Welcome to “an offer you can’t refuse"
@P1 "40 hours a week" 🙄
Yeah find a new project and leave
It depends on if they give you a chance. Sometimes they are asses and just extend you. But they should ask you and you can say no.
Just happened to me but I said yes
When I was at ACN as the current roll of date was approaching I explained to the team lead I was looking to move on
For my experience at Pwc my director is not going to find me new work if I have a project that gives me 40 hours a week but I am free to find new work myself if I want to get off a project.
Put in vacation for the week after it ends before it's extended
Often you did such a good job that the client wants only you, which will put you in a tough spot with your manager/partner. You brought it upon yourself. 😬
If you find another project that wants you, it will definitely be easier to refuse! As long as the gap isn’t too big on new start date. They may want you to stay until then or you will just be benched temporarily
You need to talk to your current lead. It will piss people off if you go look for a new role knowing that they are trying to extend you. Open / honest communication, just like any relationship is important
You be a grown up and talk about it. What skills and other opportunities do you need that the project isnt offering you? What other project opportunity do you have lined up? Have answers to these basic discussion points.
Find a new project and find a replacement with a transition plan
What if I find a project to roll on to after the expected end date of the project?
This is always a political move. It can come back to bite
In most cases, it’s pretty hard since the client is familiar with you, probably likes you at this point etc. best way to do it though is if you find another role that you can justify is a really good fit or have extended vacation plans.
Find a different project on a “more important” client. Let leadership duke it out. I’ve done it twice
You can ask to be rolled off but the best way to do it is have a honest conversation about it early and come up with a very solid transition plan. You can’t ask to be rolled off immediately.
