I’m finally getting significantly greater than 1% return on Yotta. I hope someone on here was the one that won the Tesla!

What is this?

Yotta Savings - a gamification of savings. You get a base interest rate of 0.2% and drawing tickets each week for monetary prizes or a Tesla.

Anyone have a lawyer or personal finance advisor they trust and recommend in NYC? Post MBA and new to the city; I need to buckle down and finally get a will and outside $ advice on taxes.

Mortgage PITI payment would be about 50% of take home pay, but it fits easily within my budget. We max out 401k, HSA, and backdoor Roth. We also have about 150k in savings in case things get tight and saving an additional 1k per month. Is this still too tight?

Not a homeowner - but looking to buy in 2-3 years. I feel like I'm saving well, but could save more pre-tax with my 401k.

Can I reasonably access 401k funds to buy a house, or should I keep just putting 10% to 401k and investing post tax money to save up a down payment?

Interesting investment opportunity with PSTH. Biggest SPAC with Tontine warrants. In short, for every 9 common shares you buy and hold through the merger, you get 2 shares priced at $23. I can’t stop feeling so behind all the time. It seems like every one of my peers doesn’t have to worry about student loans, car insurance (paid by their parents still) etc. I keep thinking about how if I didn’t have all these bills I’d maybe have some savings that I could be proud of. Currently A2 making 65K in HOL and I feel like I’ll never be able to save up for a down payment or wedding or anything. Just feeling discouraged.

Probably the antithesis of this bowl - but need some advice. This is for a house in a Southern metro. Built in 1960s completely remodeled in 2000s with some very recent additional remodeling of kitchen and bathrooms. Well kept house. The price will be nearly $1M, the same as something built in 2010+ with similar square footage (because a lot of the price is the lot, its a super expensive zip). Should I steer clear because of the age? Will it cost a ton in maintenance and utility bills?

Is the market ahead of itself? Interesting stat: 20-year S&P 500 annual return is just 6.9%, one of the worst periods in history. Both 15 and 25-year returns are ~9.5%, about equal to long term trends

Hi all, have you seen the consultinghumor survey on income? What is your opinion on it?

We all know- SIP of 50k/pm for 15 years at a CAGR of 12% p.a. grows to 2.52 Crs ( approx.). BUT

Do you know- If we delay it by just 2 years- the value falls to 1.88 Cr ( approx.) Difference is a WHOPPING 64 LACS, though the difference in Investment amount is only 12 lacs!!

THATS THE POWER OF COMPOUNDING!! AS THE SAYING GOES- THE BEST DAY TO START YOUR INVESTMENT WAS YESTERDAY!! Any view is appreciated!!

My partner and I are in the process of buying a PHEV that qualifies for the full non-refundable federal tax credit. We will both owe taxes in excess of the current $7,500 cap (will see if that increases with the new budget bill). If we both own the car (i.e. both names on the title), how do we manage filing for the tax credit when filing separately? Do we just pick one of us to file? Is there guidance on splitting the credit across owners? Does it matter what order our names are on the title?

My investing strategy is just to DCA into an S&P 500 index fund and keep buying and holding. If I understand correctly, the sole disadvantage this has compared to a tax sheltered retirement account is that the quarterly dividends will be taxed? But even so, they’ll be taxed at a lower qualified dividend rate since I’m automatically reinvesting those dividends.
