@analyst1 - To be clear, I "snowflake"'d you because your argument effectively boils down to you calling me a sexist because you don't like that what I observed is counter to your ideal of what the world should be. My tone is that of an individual conveying exasperation about factual events that I have routinely observed. There is no disputing what I have observed. You are in essence agreeing with me that it's bad, but you're more offended by the idea that someone would call out a woman than you are by the fact that another woman is being treated unfairly.
Actually, OP offers an important and accurate assessment. It is worth exploration. His characterization doesn't constitutes sexism either.
Many women in the workplace are more hostile towards each other. There are several factors. One factor can be attributed to the way women are socialized and how they view competition, leadership, and teaming. The second factor has to do with the way women view "acceptable norms" for interacting with each other and the "acceptable norms" for interacting in the company of men. The third factor can be attributed to the "feminist man bashing" group think. Women who don't agree with the dogma or participate are ostracized. Lastly, jealousy and envy among women are rampant. I personally think it has to do more with their PERCEIVED lack of status and self inflicted victimhood mindset. There is a difference between how women and men internalize, process, and react to these experiences. This is the ugly, hidden unspoken truth.
Tell us more about your anecdotal experiences
Que?
I can't believe I read all of this
^what do you expect? His post is dripping with thinly-veiled sexism
No one hates women more than other women. Pretty obvious
You're talking about women instead of one woman. So you're saying it in a manner that tries to pit everyone against women. So yes it sounds sexist.
I see many women in my office doing it, not just one, that's why I used the plural. It is not sexism (or any other type of ism) to observe something and verbalize it.
I've experienced women blatantly undermining and / or not supporting other women in the workplace many times. It's a real issue and it's one of the main reasons I'd prefer to have a male boss if I had a choice. I couldn't agree more with OP
Honestly it's an exception to the rule. 7 years in the industry and the worst I've seen is one woman call another a "fucking whore." They both went back to work like nothing happened.
Were you the one who posted a while back that best men give better speeches becuz you've seen SOME maid of honors crying and becoming a mess when giving theirs?
So I'm a sexist for saying I see a woman being treated unfairly and I don't think it's right?
Merely verbalizing something that you observed does not automatically make it a neutral stance. The current tone in which you phrased your observation makes it sound like all women are hypocrites and that your anecdotal experience is representative of that entire sex.
I knew i was feeling deja vu here!
There is a really, really solid Atlantic article on this. But I'm a lazy fuck.
I wonder what would've happened to me - man, this comment came from a woman - if I called a woman a bitch (behind her back) on the open floor. 🤔
Unfortunately it's probably harder to go after other men. It's pretty competitive out there so they probably just pick whoever they perceive to be most vulnerable.
DETAILS PLEASE 🙃🙃
I think you misunderstood my point. (Side thought: To "snowflake" someone just because he/she is trying to offer a dialogue/different view point is the reason why we're so divided. This goes for all liberals too. ) Yes, these type of hypocritical women should be called out as it is immoral. But what I'm saying is that even though you didn't explicitly say it, your post's tone is coming off as trying to pit everyone against ALL women (whether good or bad ppl) just because of a few bad eggs. And that perpetuates the myth that women are "nasty", which is even worse. Who would take "nasty" women seriously as professionals?
