For the record, I’m on the defense side and in SoCal. Lately, I have a seen a number of attorneys acting like insurance adjusters and approving medical treatment. Two questions: 1) Why would you do this?; and 2) This would appear to make the attorney a witness for depo, right?

Are you talking about attorneys approving their clients treatment under a lien?

They’re not really approving the treatment, the doctor already did that. they’re approving the cost of the treatment to the contractual lien.
It’s done so that doctors don’t rack up huge bills that are beyond what’s recoverable.

I don’t have a real answer to your second question but imagine it would be pretty funny to ask the lawyer why they approved the cost of treatment.

Hi! I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. Also, when I ask my boss what they’d like to see, I don’t ever get a clear answer. (Cont’d in comments)

New to PI. I filed suit and know policy limits ($500k). I want $1M but I have to live in reality. Insurance company wants to know if I have a demand. Is there any reason why I’d demand more than the policy limits?

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

Any experience working @ Chad Jones law?
I’m currently discontent with my income.

Any good or bad firm culture to speak of?
Is it impossible to actually earn a respectable incentive bonus?
Am I going to have some partner come cut me out of any cases where I might actually make a solid fee?
