I live in SC, so I got the bottom of the range posted for the job I got hired on to. They explained the range being based on cost of living zones.
I haven't been able to find a remote role. It seems like all these companies are forcing return to office. I am hoping to land something remote that pays well though.
I know that my job specifically had an advertised rate and I was hired at that rate. I'm in a low cost of living area so it benefited me, but I have a feeling it would be a negative for people in bigger cities.
I have seen a few pay ranges on job descriptions have one pay range for one of the larger metro areas of California or New York and another (lower rate) for a different (and lower cost of living) area like cities or metro areas in Florida or Texas
