Honestly it’s probably people who have connections at the agency or recruiter, or have worked at the agency in the past. OR just got there faster. OR has a ton of awards/big brand work. Also if it’s way above/below your level, that could also be a factor. I wouldn’t take it personally. I used to get these gigs all the time but nowadays I never get a response either. It’s just too many people vulturing and the recruiter can’t respond to it all.
Yeah definitely. The ones where not many people have commented. I just reached out to one that had low exposure and got it. Also a tip: don’t comment or like the post. Just reach out directly unless they explicitly say to comment. Otherwise, you’re advertising the same job to your entire network, lessening your chances even further.
I just hired an ACD that messaged me on LinkedIn. The first thing he had was relevant experience, can’t tell you how many people apply and message hiring managers and don’t have the relevant experience, or worse, a portfolio with not so great work. After the checkbox of, ok you have the right experience, what made him stand out was long, well thought out responses. I know most hiring managers don’t even give you the time of day to respond but I tried to respond to anyone with again, relevant experience. His responses were not overly formal or clearly ChatGPT. We had a good convo going on there before I reached out for an interview.

A personal reco from someone in the organization is always best.
Maybe they have better specific examples than you. Maybe not. The question is why do these recruiters even post? Surely they already know a handful of qualified available people.

And I fully accept that (better samples than me). And yes, I get so mad when I see the posts. But also, a jolt of electricity in my brain bc I’m like, that? I’ve done that.
I have actually found a decent amount of freelance gigs via LinkedIn posts. My book is just...fine. But I think recruiters like to see D5, Anomaly, Mother etc on my job experience 🤷🏽♀️

Thank you. I had suspected this. Makes sense, like I have zero information about your experience or quality of work, and I am already jealous and would hire you over myself. Like, we both might be good, but you are definitely better looking at a glance.
Strong portfolio, extremely fast comment.
Fast response, relatable experience to position, knowing their needs and showing that preemptively, and likeability

Friend, dumb luck, piece of work in book that sparked interest
Avoiding staffing agencies. They pay 1/2 the rate or even less!

Was referring to agency recruiters. But yes, 💯 agree.
I think it’s a crapshoot. I think out of those cattle calls, a good half of them never really materialize for anyone who answered because they called some freelancer that someone knew internally and the cattle call is just for back up.
The other factors are how fast you get your book in, if you know someone internally and how exact of a match you are to what they’re looking for as far as categories or media.
