Genuinely just want to hear thoughts about this! What are y’all’s opinions on community supplies/sharing supplies in fourth grade vs allowing the students to put their names on/keep their own supplies? I’m talking expo markers, scissors, crayons, tape, markers. I’ve never done shared supplies when it comes to pencils, notebooks, erasers, things like that.

I have always had my students share supplies. The only time I did not was during Covid. I make sure each group’s supply caddy is stocked with enough of everything so everyone at the table can get their work done. Sharing supplies eliminates the distraction of comparing who has the coolest pencil or most colorful marker set, etc. It levels the playing field by making sure everyone has what they need. The kids from more affluent families are using the same supplies as the kids whose families can’t send any supplies- keeping the focus on the school
Work and keeping the “who has what” distractions away. I am specific on my letter to parents about supply brands and the shared material plan. I send home the extra fancy stuff and tell the kids and parents that they are welcome to use those items at home for creative projects and homework, but at school we only need the 10 pack of markers, etc. I have found this to be successful.

Good advice!

I love it! I push into a few different rooms and there’s a huge difference between rooms that do this and rooms that don’t. I almost wish it could be a school wide policy one way or the other. It’s SO convenient. Everyone knows where their stuff is and by October (I start after Labor Day), most everyone knows how to acquire the correct supply when they need to. I get that some parents get a little annoyed and I chalk it up to never having been responsible for the education of 18-24 elementary students. We listen to their complaints and file them away in the garbage can. I love to use the line “if you have a suggestion that you think will be what is best for the students in my classroom, I am all ears!”

I agree with this

I personally think that your supply list should indicate “shared” for those items. Parents purchase items with their kiddos to get what they want and to motivate them for a strong start to the year. If vet RT an items are labeled as a shared supply, they won’t accidentally purchase the fancy pencils, and you may get more supplies due to lower costs from families that can.

Kinda bummed. I’ve been single for 6 years (I’m 31 now). I live in ptown and talk to guys in Boston on tinder. Was talking to a guy for about a week who is my type. I asked if he wanted to FaceTime tonight and he said sure but caveated that he isn’t into long distance (ptown to Boston) and that we would most likely stick to chatting. Idk what’s wrong with me. Everyone tells me I’m a catch but guys I’m attracted to are never into me 😭 just needed to vent

Recently interviewed at Adobe, it was great. Even the senior designer I was connected with escalated it a lot. But then suddenly after the last interview, I haven’t heard in a week from them even after multiple follow ups. Recruiter said she will reach out on Monday, but even Tuesday passed now. Should I wait a week or move on for other offers?

Husband and I are planning to rent a car (we wipe the entire inside and handles down with bleach wipes) and drive to a state over (only 5 hours, no pit stops) to pod up with my parents for a month or two. We will be wearing masks and social distancing with my parents until everyone is tested and confirmed negative. My husband goes to the grocery store once a week, other than that we do not interact with others and have taken the pandemic very seriously. Is this a bad idea? Second guessing myself
