Gifted ELA and art happen at the same time at my school. A student wants to attend the art class and do their online ELA work at another time. Both teachers are fine with that, but admin said "no!"
How can the student's giftedness and IEP modifications be used to defend the teachers' choice to admin?

Does the student have a WEP as well as an IEP? If, yes, then find the common ground to support the student in the most academic creative way. Or consult the parent for input. But make sure the written legal documents attached to said student is followed.

We do not have IEP’s for gifted students. We use a form Development Education Plan. It would make my life easier if we used IEPs

Ohio has WEP (Written Education Plan) and is sometimes used with IEPs to ensure all areas of need are being met. The amount of paperwork is crazy, but at least everyone is on the same page for a twice exceptional student.

Ok that the same for our twice exceptional students. I am having problems with teachers not allowing students to to my classes and complete my work! Can you send me a copy of the WEP at my email cindy_dean@dpsnc.net

I can see that decision coming from admin. In reality it’s probably going to piss this student of, esp if he likes art. Art is just as important, imo

Kids seem to either really love art or really hate it. I often get called for behavior problems in art music library lol.

2 of my own kids are talented at drawing painting. They just loved art, wanted to help/work with the art teacher. And both paint and draw as adults. They produced some excellent work out of that class. My kids would have had big problems if the couldn’t go to art.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Anyone looking at traveling to Costa Rica? They have a list of states from which they will admit tourists while also requiring a negative covid test, health history, etc. As someone not on the approved list, I am bitter and curious why the population is grouped at a state level when there are massively different rates of infection within each state (not to mention personal responsibility) and you are already required to present a negative test. Any idea how often those lists get updated?
