I generally have a few lessons in which I can use Pixar shorts to teach students how to identify and discuss literary signposts, how to identify and explain the development of theme, character traits, and other narrative elements. What are some of your favorite shorts? I am trying to incorporate activities where my students get to choose their own clips for independent practice with these skills and need a variety to draw from.

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? I teach high school gifted math. In my program, our gifted students are in self-contained gifted classes. Those in the same scenario, do you teach with the same textbook and curricula as non-gifted?

I teach G&T 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. We are looking at the cogAT as a one form of ID, but cannot afford to test all of the students. Do you recommend testing some? At this age?

Gifted ELA and art happen at the same time at my school. A student wants to attend the art class and do their online ELA work at another time. Both teachers are fine with that, but admin said "no!"

What is the gifted service model like in your district?

Has anyone else’s Corp cut services to G/T because of the pandemic? Mine has, and I am absolutely heartbroken for the kids. They need services now more than ever. However they keep hiring SpEd positions and offering more services for SoEd students because they say the need is greater. How can the needs for one end of the spectrum be greater than the other? Without laws, what can we do to ensure gifted students get the education they need and deserve? Suggestions?
