Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

BCG or McKinsey for consumer goods/retail?
Bain & Company Hey! Got dinged at BCG and Mck and then hadn't heard back from Bain, but just found out I made it to final rounds. I haven't been prepping for over a week as it'd be two since my first round at Bain.
Help! Whats different or similar about Bain final rounds? I'm applying to Texas offices for an experienced AC role. I also may have to have an accelerated final round as I'm leaving the country for most of April. Bain & Company
McKinsey & Company I did my final round with McKinsey today, and I I received a rejection call from the partner today. However, he said I did really great and wants to keep in touch with me. He also mentioned that I should reapply in 6 months. Does anyone have any similar experience? Do I have a better chance if I reapply next time?McKinsey & Company

Past 20 working days a year outside the US it’s a different way of filing taxes, so yes, they absolutely will care
Yeah they do as you have to file taxes and declare income in both countries which is complicated. During peak of pandemic they were offering 2 months of work from elsewhere and supporting the tax filing in case by case basis. Not sure if they are still doing it.
Fair points A1 & M1, but do they have a way to keep track of employees and police this? (A close friend with another global consultancy has been in a different payroll country for almost a year and has been paying US taxes, and the firm doesn’t know)

They absolutely will track your computer location. Have had friends who had computers locked after the allowance.
Also, are you really suggesting lying to your employer and committing tax fraud?
So your question has a direct answer
- yes they care and when you submit timesheets you validate where you work. For many legal / tax reasons this needs to be true
Your pushback is the standard, what if you lie…
- this is not a scalable model and we benchmark travel from your home city. I would imagine hard to keep this up for a while. I knew about 10 people this past summer who reported where they worked different than actual location. That all accidentally revealed it at some point.
OP - they care and all others have pointed out the details. What they haven’t said is that this is easily a cause for termination. It is against the companies values and also falls into the tax fraud bucket of criminal offense.
If you want to work from somewhere else just ask for the transfer. B
Yeah it’s not if the firm cares, if it’s the taxing authorities care, and they certainly do.
You don’t want to piss off Uncle Sam’s tax man or any other version of that in another country
Not declaring it could have you up for tax fraud in one or both countries.
