Which location? Not sure what kick ass ideas you’re referring to.
It’s a fucking shitshow (like everywhere else).
Take the job if you need a paycheck, but don’t expect much otherwise, it’s a typical agency experience though: some teams are competent and well managed, some teams will grind you into the dirt, healthcare is especially messy, get ready to have AI shoved down your throat at every opportunity, and expect layoffs will happen every 6mos to a year. There is an overemphasis on “Fame” and winning awards, two things most clients couldn’t give a shit about, yet most work is just glorified production work, typical digital slop and social media grunt work; we position ourselves as being digital first, yet most web work is still just building ugly shit in out of date CRMs with clueless developers on the other side of the planet, but that doesn’t stop us from acting like the sun shines out of our buttholes and every thing we do is making the world a better place. All for a stellar (and dwindling) list of clients that run the gamut from tobacco, alcohol, and gambling to big pharma and disposable cosmetics.
Again, this is literally every agency on earth though, so if I sound jaded, it’s because of lived experience. Grey most of the time just feels like it’s the ugly duckling within Oglivy Group though, feeding off their scraps.
Like is it better than anywhere else? No. Is it worse? Depends on your team, but probably meh. But if you like your boss, and the pay is right, go for it. I’d only take the job if you are running away from your current job though, or just need a gig; it’s not something I’d run towards on purpose though.
It’s just another once iconic agency being fracked to death by WPP. All holdco agencies are the same in this regard, Grey is no different.
Just another annoying over-payed bag of gas. Haven’t seen anything from anyone in leadership that makes me excited or feel good about the future of the agency.
What pharma brands do they still have?
