I’ve gotten interviews this way before, idk if I would’ve gotten them otherwise
Agree with ACD 1, I would only ever reach out to a CD if I wasn’t already in contact with the recruiter. I’ve gotten interviews after cold applying for job and cold messaging someone on LinkedIn. Then they would send my stuff to a recruiter afterwards.
It can work.
Ok got it thank you. I know the recruiter is going to forward our books to a couple of GCDs for that particular account but I’m trying to find ways to stand out/be proactive
They’re gonna be pissed you didn’t hit them up first and took away their sweet sweet referral bonus.
Even if it’s a cold message? LOL
Do it
Yeah. The recruiter told me today they were going to forward my book to the team but I’m thinking I should still send a message for an informational chat or something.
I do it every time and it’s never hurt me, at least to my knowledge. I think people appreciate the proactiveness. If that weirds someone out then I would probably not enjoy working with them. The point of linkedin is to communicate with others and network.
Just don’t be a jerk and it should be fine.
As a 6-year tenured ECD, I would highly recommend doing this. Talk to me about the work, get your foot in the door, make me remember your name.
