Got hired for a job. Worked for 3 months training. Got very little work to practice what I had learned only to lose my job due to poor performance. They had hired 7 of us with the same job title. The most they had ever done for new hires at this company (so I am told). What has happened? Any advice?

Agreed, it looks like they intentionally over-hired in order to get multiple trainings completed at one time so they didn’t have to repeat onboarding if a candidate didn’t match well. I really dislike this practice. My opinion, it sets a poor tone for the culture. Current employees witness a revolving door which can easily be leaked outside of the business affecting the way the company is viewed. It’s also hurtful to the candidates let go bc as noted in the post, the individual is questioning the training received vs the output as unsatisfactory. Question: was the company upfront and did they give a realistic idea of the hiring and training process and how and when the individual’s performance would be assessed and then what would happen next? Was it a simple a trial period and the candidate agreed to that? Most states are “at will”.
To both sides of this, I think the employer should have made the decision to let the individual go sooner and I think the employee should have assessed the situation and moved on if they were unsatisfied with the training. Bottom line, that’s a lot of unproductive time and money spent.

Either they over-hired, you weren't picking up the role quick enough, or a combination of both. The "why" doesn't really matter unless you experienced obvious abuse of some kind (racism, seismic, etc), update your resume and start looking for your next role.

Seems like they hired above the norm because they expected to let people go who didn’t immediately succeed. Crazy when companies set you up to fail and do not work with you.

Anyone know of a good app/site that blocks your access to specific applications for a selected time?

Embarrassing to admit but I have a hard time putting my phone down and I’m sick of wasting my time. I’ve only found ones that allow you to block access to selected apps but it also allows you to end the blocking period whenever you’d like (thus not really helping my ADHD impulses). Open to hearing suggestions!

I’m new on the job search and still employed. I’m looking to grow further in the logistics industry. While I look for work, it’s a bit discouraging seeing how hundreds of people apply for positions I see on LinkedIn. I still apply because you never know and AI plays a huge effect in selections. Should I even bother applying when there are more than 100 applications?

Anyone know of any great articles or advice for building a multi-sided platform at the beginning of that platform’s life? I’m building a video platform for education (user-generated chunks, kind of like YouTube or TikTok but specific to education vertical) and I’m thinking about early strategy for content acquisition, would love to hear what other entrepreneurs have done. Both strategic and tactical resources appreciated!
