I like how in this article magically there are no taxes on that 100k
Yeah ok you need to click on another button to get that table, im here to read not work
Well I can speak for Boston, it’s not enough here.
Considering more than 75% of people don’t make 100k, I’d wonder how informed your statement is
As per the article, at least 75 of them exists
You just read the headlines don’t you ?
For almost any metro area, 100k for a family of 4+ isn't enough nowadays unless you got into a house years ago.
$100k is still plenty for an individual assuming:
1. No city/state income tax
2. No kids or incessant spending (e.g. luxury cars or items)
3. No pressure to buy a home in the short term (<5 years)
Assuming all of the above, the disposable income and savings is still pretty good.
This is my reality and my wife and I have been able to save tremendously in Florida. Together we have been more liquid than ever. It feels a bit like freedom to not have those major expenses. We own our cars, we are about $60k away from owning the house (a modest 2bed/2bath home with a mortgage of less than $700 monthly), and we are natural hermits (home bodies). The secret is to learn to live on little where possible.
Rising Star
I don't think I know anyone making under 100k. Even the youngest lowest paid guy on my team is $120k
Well, I'm guessing a $100,000 would go pretty far in some of those southern cities in Mississippi or Alabama or something
