had an annual performance evaluation. The evaluation was really bad. I was tipped off by a coworker that my review was going to be “competent” in which they voiced their disagreement with that evaluation because I perform so well. While I was aware of this, I thought it would at least be acknowledged that I’ve done things that show I go above and beyond my role. The eval was based on peer reviews instead of performance, I was told to watch my tone and keep a calm composure. I felt retaliation.

You can add a rebuttal. Type up what you have done and anything that you feel proves those few peer reviews wrong by noting facts. You don't have to sign their evaluation of you, you can tell them you will be submitting a rebuttal to the review and want it attached to the review in your file. Just be professional but this allows future employers to see the review AND your evidence of performance if you ever need a reference or move roles internally.

This seems to be relation and or ways to push you out. Do not take it personal keep professional and write back a rebuttal if you care or have time to do so on the clock! I’ve had This experience and also another one where was a panel or none medical staff putting me down…. Cannot discuss further. But there are points where HR legal consultation will be needed if you do end up leaving or their attitude changes.

So frustrating! But good advice to remain professional! I don’t understand why it would be based solely on peer reviews. I’ve been around for a while, and my peers are the least capable of reviewing anyone. Would do whatever you can to properly submit your case to it and then go from there.

How can peers evaluate you? That should be from your manager. Peers may feel threatened by you if you are doing a better job or well liked so naturally they will say bad things about you.

Wow I am so sorry to hear that OP. I would definitely refute that and state the reasons why you don't think that was a fair evaluation. If you feel like you are being retaliated against I would definitely talk to HR as well and let them know so that it is documented.

Sometimes perception is reality. If that's what all of your coworkers think, maybe it is true.
