Why do you pick up calls from random phone numbers?
The government still primarily operates via letters to registered addresses. Anyone expressing urgency or pressuring you while claiming to be part of a government group via phone is social engineering.
Sounds like a new type of scam. This time, with a bit of homework.
Yea there’s some info on them and it seems like they are legit but just kinda creepy how they knew that I signed up for something
Insurance company? He said no, were a consumer protection company that protects consumers from all types of fraud and in your case we think you might be a victim of wire fraud. I said how would you know that? He said something along the lines of we found your number on a server that deals with offshore accounts and there’s a lot of fraud going on on that server. He then proceeded to ask did you recently or in the past buy an online website, course, or something similar to that ? I said I don’t think so. He asked well we have a lot of victims who buy courses promising something and they don’t get anything at all. The creepy thing is that I recently did buy a course online but it’s totally legit. I then asked do you have a website and he said yes, go to allstatemanagementgroup.com. I went there and quickly scanned over it and didn’t see any pictures or names of employees or an email address or phone number. It was a very generic website that just had some basic html and css. There’s a call today picture on the website and when you click on it, it literally just enlarges the image. I asked him why there wasn’t any contact info or why there wasn’t any names on the website. He said oh that’s because I’m just part of the night staff and then said i can send you our info over email that shows that we’re accredited with the Better business bureau etc etc and then said oh but you said you didn’t really have an issue so I guess we should be ok then and then says ok bye. I called the number back a few times and it rings but no one has been picking up. Just really weirded out.
hmm, sounds fishy. what does your bank say? either way I wouldn't disclose any info to the all state people
This story screams SCAM
