has anyone else experienced the anxiety of potentially leaving a job and knowing they will be upset when you put in your notice?

Yes, this is totally normal! There’s only one way through this situation; you just have to rip off the bandaid. It sucks in the moment but will be over quickly and then you will feel relief. If you think there’s a possibility of them walking you out immediately, be sure to gather your contacts and whatever else you need before giving notice.

You just have to do it. Part of the anxiety that builds is the anticipation. Just makes sure to take everything you need before giving your notice.

Sometimes people with anxiety think they’re traumatizing a workplace by leaving and you’re not. Workplace goodbyes can be sad but they’re part of life. Your firm is not as attached to you as you think it is. If something happened to you and you were no longer able to work, some colleagues would be sad for a bit but they would replace you and move on. If your firm is toxic, prepare your personal affairs and save anything you want to take with you before you give notice. You’ll be fine!

I literally just went through this! I immediately started crying the second I sat down in my boss’ office to give my notice lol. It literally felt like a breakup and I was in there for 2 hours with my boss trying to convince me to stay. It was so rough and I was emotionally drained for several days. Butttt once I gave the notice it was like a huge weight lifted off my chest and things eventually got better once I recovered lol. As everyone says, it’s best to rip off the bandaid! I left on great terms and feel so much better now. There really is no good way to deal with the anxiety except just getting it over with. Like I said, anxiety was so strong I immediately broke down in tears lollll.

No one will have your back and your interests as much as you do. You do what is best for you - it’s not your job to manage other people’s reaction or plans. You are leaving so it’s no longer your problem. :)

and more importantly how do you deal with that anxiety!!!

Yes. Quitting a job is like ending any other relationship. It causes a mixture of feelings: anxiety, fear of the unknown, sadness, etc. It's completely normal.

As others said, you just need to rip off the bandaid and leave.

Why are some attorneys better than others? In other words, what makes someone an average attorney that does average work versus someone who brings in the big, newsworthy cases and handles high-stakes matters? Is the latter attorney actually better at the job or better at marketing?

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I probably sound petty, but a part of me is forcing me to re-evaluate every interaction I ever had with her.

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

Do vendors provide the agency with a pre-pro book prior to the shoot if it’s a simple drop kit, taking head?

Not sure if there’s a need for it since it’s not a complicated shoot (single cam, direct shot to talent answering questions) but wanted to get a sense. Client wants a meeting the day before the shoot to talk about the production (which we have done a few times already), so not sure if it makes sense to have a formal PPB for this meeting. Thoughts?
