Hoz your weekend treating you?

Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

A few months ago, an issue I’ve heard that was happening was that aftermarket dials were getting through but the case was legit at least on vintage watches. Maybe they’ve corrected this but I would still do your research on the seller

Aftermarket or “repainted” dials for vintage watches have always been a thing. Don’t count on the authentication to catch something that doesn’t have a tell-tale common fake sign. I don’t buy or sell watches on eBay at all anymore. It’s too faceless and the authentication is kind of a black box: who is it? What’s their process? Do they open up every caseback to check the movement? What happens if the authentication process damages the watch? Etc.

I’ve used it for a 3k and under and have come back mostly happy.

I’ve used it, but I wouldn’t buy a watch that’s got good fakes out there. Have purchased several Grand Seikos and been very happy.
I dunno I'm probably not buying from ebay unless it is a seller I recognize. I'm which case I'll just call them directly.
Used Ebay to buy a Grand Seiko when they were running a 10% off watches, up to $500 promo. Usually you can do better on Chrono24.
Not me bro, it was for a SBGA211 that was around $4300 before the discount.
