Before going that route, just know that HR is there to protect the firm not you. I ve had the same experience you described. It sucks but I have just learned to let things go.
This is probably not a popular idea but I'd either leave that team or even office. Public accounting is hard enough without dealing with politics that you can't control. You can try to battle but I'm not sure if I'd want that battle. Itd be a hard one to win.
Not for this but due to inappropriate comments from someone in management to a staff person about others in management. It can be anonymous or not. They hear the issue, investigate, and get back to let you know they are investigating. They won’t tell you the outcome
Thanks for the advice everyone. I’m currently just powering through trying not to have a “when keepin it real goes wrong” moment while I work on getting on to a new team. Good to know I’m not alone in this! 🙅🏾♂️
What happened?
Best I can describe it is I’m treated extremely different from others on my team. It’s almost like there is a completely different set of rules I’m supposed to abide by. I’m spoken to very condescendingly, comments are made about my “professionalism” when I push back even in the slightest. Its just a lot
Yes, I’ve tried and it’s made things worse
OP. E&C is supposed to ensure there is no retaliation for what its worth.
I would report and recommend changing teams
Idk about how PWC handles these things but I would say try to switch teams first if you can. If not, start documenting these events clearly so when you do go to E&C it doesn’t look like you’re just complaining
Also is there someone that’s a POC there high up I would reach out to them and talk them first if possible if a diversity leader
Damn
You tried talking to the person about it?
Sorry to hear about your situation, haven't dealt with that.. yet. As suggested, document everything (dates, times, situations, including those that witnessed). Also, I like the idea of reaching out to other POC or others you trust implicitly, even higher level... but approach it as looking for advise, not trying to make trouble for that person (even if you really want them gone). Heck, you might even find similar experiences. Finally, life is hard enough as it is, who needs to add aggravation, so think about switching teams. Also, we all know this isn't the first time and won't be the last, so let us know how it goes, you may help out someone else.
HR and E&C are not the same. E&C would be better than going to HR
