100%. Coca-Cola. I thought it would be amazing. It took less than 6 months to realize the culture was completely toxic. And. I left my actual dream job to work there. The positive is I learned what not to do when running a company.
I had something like that happen. It wasn't necessarily a dream job, but it was a prominent brand and I assumed, in my youthful ignorance, that the vibe of the brand would be the company culture. Big mistake. The internal dynamics didn't reflect the brand ethos at all, and in some ways they struck me as the opposite. It wasn't a universally bad experience, I did learn a lot, but some of what I learned was about things to avoid and what hype to regard with deep skepticism.
I work in tech now and while the comp and reputations are good, the people make it feel kind of gross. There is an air of fakeness, not sure I totally trust people, people can and will throw others under the bus and blame. It just makes me question people’s integrity.
I try to keep as much work life separation as possible. This is only a paycheck for me and my goal is figure out how to retire as quickly as possible and find something better to do with my life.
I had a fellow designer who’s dream was to work for NIKE. They have a fabulous campus work environment. His job site was working in a an off-campus trailer doing the production work on shoe boxes.

Great for the resume though. Sorry to hear it’s not what you were hoping for, but put in your year or two then use it for what it’s worth - name recognition
On a positive note, finding these things early in your career helps you find direction. Looking back, you’ll probably notice signs of who they were. Use that knowledge with future job searches. It’s helped me dodge a few bullets.
I would actually love to work for Disney. Do they ever hire remote marketing folk? And tell me why your experience didn’t live up to the dream.
No remote. Just WFH fridays
