I did last year. Make sure you are taking pictures of all the evidence. I gave the complex I was at several chances to fix the issue but the mold kept spreading. I finally stopped dealing with the property management and ended up reaching out to corporate for their regional VP. Sent them an email and they were able to get me out of my lease without being penalized.
Thanks D1 that’s solid advice.- It’s absolutely insane to me that they can hold you to your lease after proven documentation of exposure!
As a tenet, it’s difficult to win at small claims court especially since landlords usually hire lawyers to handle the cases for them. If you decide to go that route, make sure you’re extremely prepared.
