McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!
A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company Starting in the McKinsey London office soon and essentially need to buy a new wardrobe. Any advice on what I should prioritise?? Was going to buy a couple nice suits and shirts etc, but someone told me no one wears suits anymore and to buy chinos and quarter zips instead?

Don’t do it
Transition experience is bumpy - very much a sink or swim environment and you're going to have to learn the Bain way of doing things, which can be a big adjustment for lateral hires. It's not an impossible transition by any means but it is really hard for a lot of people, and many leave / CTL within 1-2 years
I lateraled at an earlier tenure but having been through the M/SM promo process I would strongly advise thinking carefully about coming over at that level - I think that PEG is a slightly easier transition than GP but it's still really tough
Echo the sentiments. It’s really difficult. Bains not set up to integrate people well laterally. And people will have some sense of outsider ship bias against you, especially in the early days, even if they don’t explicitly say it.
Not saying u shouldn’t do it. Just go in with eyes wide open.
Message me directly if you want to talk in detail, it’s an important decision and implications can be different for everyone. But on average I agree with everyone here that it doesn’t work out well
Thank you all for sharing. Sounds like a tough transition overall
