Has anyone looked into or had any experience with the ABA’s disability insurance? I am just starting down the road at looking at supplemental disability insurance. The ABA express policy seems reasonably priced, no medicals required, and has in-occupation coverage. I am fortunate enough not to feel like I need more than their max coverage of 72k/year.

I got an offer for BA GCB 5, but the department is not mentioned, HR told that department will be allocated once I join. Is it so? Don't they inform the department prior?

I struggle w/ deep convos in social settings w/ partners. We have team dinners every few weeks that I go to, but find it tough to engage with them. Doing well on case, but feel it’s career limiting.

I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. Can anyone offer advice?

Anyone have any affordable case management software recommendations? I’m looking for something a bit non-traditional as I work for a small nonprofit. Ideally the software would involve document organization/access as well as like a running “log” for folks to post relevant events or work completed for the file.

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Why am I taking the (honestly justified) blame for this? Surely it should be obvious that I’m just the messenger here.

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years).
