Has anyone switched firms while pregnant? Fifth year, Am Law 50, doing well but looking to switch to an Am Law 100 primarily for lifestyle and career progression reasons. I’ll be around the end of my first trimester with my second. Wondering if it’s worth just waiting out the pregnancy and leave at my current firm (I’m at no risk there), but I’m really excited about the group I’d be working with at the new firm (young mom partners which I don’t have right now) and don’t want it to go away.

I have confirmed there’s no waiting period for parental leave, and some of the new firms policies (slightly longer parental leave, billable reductions for pregnancy appointments and pumping) would be an improvement.

With this in mind then I see no downside to pulling the trigger and making the move!

I moved firms at the start of my second trimester with my second baby and was able to negotiate full benefits (would’ve been just outside of the new firm’s six month waiting period). No one held it against me and I’m much happier at my current firm.

We had an associate start about a month before her due date last year. It was just enough time to get her name out there, and we were ready for her when she came back from leave. Congratulations on the pregnancy and potential new job!

I did it! Still at my new firm 5 years later and so glad I made the jump.

Some but it was coming from me rather than the firm. They did a good job of helping me staff up.

Did you disclose the pregnancy to the new firm?

I'd like to hope that a group of young mom partners would understand, but I also understand the hesitation.

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!

I am pregnant and don’t feel pregnant most of the time. I’m only 6 weeks so have to wait awhile before any visual confirmation. And then you worry about all the ones after that before 24 weeks or so. How do you cope? I am trying to be positive. I’ve had a miscarriage before so I’m nervous as well. I try some calming meditation and things like head massages but that lasts an hour tops!!

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. Full disclosure. She is deathly allergic to cats and dogs. (Yes even those man made hypoallergenic dogs) there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. You can be Allergic via eye water content, hair oil, and saliva.
