I have confirmed there’s no waiting period for parental leave, and some of the new firms policies (slightly longer parental leave, billable reductions for pregnancy appointments and pumping) would be an improvement.
With this in mind then I see no downside to pulling the trigger and making the move!
I moved firms at the start of my second trimester with my second baby and was able to negotiate full benefits (would’ve been just outside of the new firm’s six month waiting period). No one held it against me and I’m much happier at my current firm.
We had an associate start about a month before her due date last year. It was just enough time to get her name out there, and we were ready for her when she came back from leave. Congratulations on the pregnancy and potential new job!
I did it! Still at my new firm 5 years later and so glad I made the jump.
Some but it was coming from me rather than the firm. They did a good job of helping me staff up.
Did you disclose the pregnancy to the new firm?
