Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!

I think every series is like this. They try to hit too much in a day to cover skills. I focus on one skill and one strategy per week. Like one grammar skill, one reading skill, one strategy. Otherwise it's a hodge podge.

Send money to family every month 30-40k and my mother still expects me to buy her things on top of that. I've had to explain my expenses and budgets over and over again. I've said they are free to do what they want with the money I send but the expectations are always there. It's becoming hard to set boundaries especially as a single person and it's making me guilty. Is this normal?

This would be my 3rd, but need some input. I am 10 dpo (guess) and I just wiped some reddish brown discharge. It’s like mucus/veiny consistency. I have had cramping pain yesterday and today. I’ve never had implantation bleeding, but could this be that? Baby dust please. It’s been a 4 month journey up until now from getting off the minipill and no positive or af…this is the first sign of anything.

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

I’ve been looking at these new home gym stocks. Peloton stocks shot up. And now new tech is coming out like Tonal and FightCamp. These haven’t IPOed or anything yet but I’d like to invest or look into it more. Do they have any parent companies? Who’s making their software / hardware (suppliers) ? Can I invest in them? Or where can I find this type of info?

Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?

Found a most enlightening work on decolonial history with tons of TIL moments especially about Anti Colonial movements in Egypt, China, Japan and course India in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most histories this period often adopt a Euro-centric lens but this book flips it and tells the stories of these turbulent times from the vantage point of the pioneering Asian leaders like Tagore, Al Afghani, Kang Youwei etc. Lovers of Asian history would surely appreciate this book

I'm almost done with my master's and right now we are discussing the knowledge gap that happens in 4th grade with our lower-class students. They know or have the skills for how to read (for the most part) but seem not to be able to comprehend what they are reading due to the fact that they don't have background knowledge like their upper-class peers - which is due to life experiences. Have you noticed this in your classes? I have but didn't realize why it was so hard to catch them up.
