“Show me the quoted language” something something, dark side blah blah blah.
It’s you - you’re the problem. Labeling someone or someplace as “toxic” in the first place is a fishbowl move

My sense is that Fishbowl users do not make up the majority of attorneys. So, no, I haven’t thought about your false hypothetical.
Are you an associate at a law firm or like a back alley chiropractic firm?

I think there are two different issues to address here: First, I do not believe that most attorneys are toxic. I think that society tends to portray this idea that because many (not all) attorneys lie, cheat and/or steal in some way shape or form, then all of us attorneys must be doing the same things, which further contributes to the toxic nature and playing “the game” correctly in the profession. That’s a lie from the devil!! And I refuse to be associated with that lie.
Second, I think the law profession is great - when the actual practice is done well and in good faith. It is an elite profession. Part of the problem is that over the years, society painted this picture that to truly be a “successful” attorney, you have to demonstrate the number of victories for clients you’ve obtained; the annual salary exceeding high six to seven figures; the number of elite bar clubs you’re part of; how well published you are; how many high profile figures you’re friends with; and more. To get to this point, some attorneys will take on a toxic persona, creating a toxic working environment - all in the name of reaching society’s definition of success!
What breaks my heart is that some attorneys wear themselves out unnecessarily over all of this because they bought into the lie. Bright, humble, and capable attorneys walk away from the profession in the name of maintaining their sanity, when really, they should have walked away from society’s lie about us.
