Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

I agree with Managing Associate 1 - great response. Completely agree you should not name anyone in writing and I don’t even think you should name anyone on the phone. You aren’t responsible for fixing them. The problem isn’t only these 2 partners, it’s a culture that permits this kind of talk to be acceptable. Let HR focus on that.
Thanks so much!
I don’t see why you shouldn’t.
At least find some solace in the fact that they’ve shown you their true colours and you probably don’t want to work somewhere like this.
Thanks!
No. Just no.
I didn't say it had to do with my story - I said it's a tone deaf thing to do. I have thick skin (after going to Queen's University as a POC, I'm used to insensitivity), but all I'm saying is, it's unprofessional and disrespectful.
I would absolutely let them know why when you decline the offer. There should be consequences for this kind of behavior. Companies should know why they are unable to hire and retain diverse talent (and who).
Thanks!
I mean, it probably sounded super scripted
I'm actually a millennial...no one's saying to complain EVERY time, but they should have been smarter and read the room, especially right now, when a lack of diversity and inclusion is a major issue in the legal field. It's boomer partners like these who discourage visible minorities from entering law
I am a POC and had a very rude interviewer during an OCI years ago. My law school career office (who coordinates OCI) asked me for more details about it and indicated that they would speak to the firm to provide constructive feedback about that particular person not being best suited for recruiting. The law school indicated that they would not share my name with the firm. Given the conversation and the fact that OCI has dozens of students, I trust the school did not breach that confidentiality. This may be an alternative way to handle it.
Thanks for the tip!
No. I don’t want to sound mean but you’re going to come across a lot worse than getting laughed at for stuff that is not even your fault here and complaining about it will just make things worse so do not get in the habit now.
Thanks!
This is why firms need to make sure they have competent people representing them at interviews. You don’t want to work there. Be glad you found out early.
Did you end up getting any offers through the process last week? If not, just know that most Bay St. firms talk. So, depending on which partners responded poorly, complaining is not likely to have effect and may even have some blowback for you.
It doesn't sound like it was your story but your delivery that might have been the issue.
Thanks for the feedback! Fortunately, I did. And yes - that's why I'm hesitant to complain (esp considering how small Bay St is) but wanted to get some advice. I appreciate it!
No.
Why's that?

To a certain point, you grow up and stop talking about one of the milestones you achieved a long time ago.
No offense, I am an international immigrant too.
Haha I mean that could come off as dorky given we’re trying to make money here and not change the world for the better
