Currently have 2 Aussies (have had a total of 4) and can tell you that being intelligent and high energy equates to destruction if you don't keep them occupied and challenged. One of mine is a frisbee fanatic and the other loves to play ball. Both have improved my arm strength...
However, I wouldn't trade them for any other breed.
Get rope toys too. My Aussies fave is tug of war

Hi energy and smart dogs need LOTS of exercise and stimulation. this isn’t a dog that will sleep on the couch all day. hikes, games, long walks, agility, etc
otherwise the dog will find ways to entertain himself and get into trouble [and not allow you to work from home]
Thank you so much!!!

Lots of chew toys and treat puzzles... Crate training will be essential.

I see an agility trainer at her place, and she gives us homework using various household objects.

A tired dog is a good dog
I have a 3 month old Aussie and we tire her out with mental and physical simulation in the morning and evenings by playing fetch and teaching commands. During the day, we leave her in a covered crate with a kong filled with frozen wet dog food. She usually goes to sleep quickly. Chews are also great but make sure it’s supervised to prevent small pieces from being a choking hazard (no rawhides).
Modeling. Immediately.
