There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?

I’ve been with my current company for a little over 5 years now and since the start of the pandemic have been WFH. I absolutely love WFH and have always wanted a position in which I could WFH. Does anyone work in an area with lots of exterior environmental noise (traffic, concerts, trains, etc.) and have tips for not becoming overwhelmed and/or distracted by it? I’m finding that environmental noise has increased near my office now that tourism has picked back up in my city, and I’m struggling to block it out. I’ve tried earplugs but the noises tend to vibrate my office building so the earplugs don’t work well as an entire block.

Hi all, I currently work 52-55 hours on average weekly and have been at my company for 4 months. I am now the only operations team member and am expected to complete all ops work alone. (Barely got trained to begin with). I work in Manhattan as well so I’m not sure if my 70k+15-20% bonus is standard or if I’m being very underpaid, especially considering that it is an employees market. Thoughts?

I informally accepted a position at Silicon Valley Bank, after attempting to negotiate a higher wage, the recruiter advised this wasn't a possibility. However, while completing the background check I received another offer from Wells Fargo. The SVB position most aligns with my career objectives but the Wells Fargo position pays more (13k difference).
