Hello, I am a big law associate in the US looking to relocate to the UK. How difficult is this to do? Can this be done?

In usual times, it depends on your practice. Usually easier for finance and corporate associates and some firms have US associates that practice US securities law. Does your firm have a London office? If so you can ask for a secondment. I’m not sure how fluid is the market now. I relocated from Canada to the UK.

What’s your specialism?

Currently big law in NYC and just landed a position in London. Probably a bit of luck involved and being open to opportunities. I’d reach out to recruiters who specialize in relocation from the US to UK. I think MLA has a lot of these positions. Feel free to DM me.

Hi! Does anyone know what kind of knowledge is needed to crack the Data Scientist interview at Google?

I'm currently working in Marketing Analytics (primarily using SQL and a bit of pyspark). Apart from mastering SQL, I wanted to know from people working at Google what does it take to get there as a Data Scientist? (I'm very interested in Strategy Ops)

I plan to another 6-8 months in preparation and upskilling myself before I even apply.
Any help and guidance is appreciated! Thanks :)

I left my job without having anything else lined up otherwise I would have had a mental breakdown. I’m not even in that great of a financial place, but it was my job or my sanity. I know at least three other people who, in the past few months, have left with nothing lined up. I feel like it’s something we need to be talking more about. This isn’t normal for people to be doing this right?

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?

London folk, question for you: do firms and offices in London not recruit candidates directly?
