Hello I am a person who is incarcerated in the State of Wisconsin. For the last ten years I have self educated myself on appellate law. I have verifiable cases that I have won. I also have a limited but nonetheless helpful certificate in paralegal studies. Can anyone tell me what's the best route for me to get on with any legal firm. Via the government or otherwise.

Try applying to public defenders offices or prison reform law-based organizations. They love to hire people with lived experience. Best of luck!

Good for you for using your experience productively

If your question is about becoming a lawyer, before you spend any time or money, I would check with the bar to see if you are be able to get licensed.

You might try getting in touch with law firms and communicate with people who do pro bono work. They may have some good suggestions or leads. Lawyers or paralegals engaged in that work may have a network of people who would be aware of any opportunities for someone with your experience.

Anyone know when Ch. 7 BKs must close by? Is this changed by when there are adversary proceedings (alleged fraudulent transfers made to a bank for CC payments)? Asking for my friend who is unfortunately involved bc of his parents, who are the debtors (he isn’t a defendant or a debtor in this, but the payments were made to a CC in his name—a CC he didnt know was opened in his name).

Its in Texas, and the initial BK filing was made about 23 months ago. TIA!
