If your question is about becoming a lawyer, before you spend any time or money, I would check with the bar to see if you are be able to get licensed.
You might try getting in touch with law firms and communicate with people who do pro bono work. They may have some good suggestions or leads. Lawyers or paralegals engaged in that work may have a network of people who would be aware of any opportunities for someone with your experience.
