It’s a hit or miss. I wouldn’t use code from companies I’ve never worked for just to be safe. I’ve used code from past companies and was able to show some info to verify
Airport locations are much less likely to check ID than other locations.
I’ve booked with my dad’s corporate codes through Enterprise multiple times and never been checked.
Enterprise has a “ReadyPass” where you don’t even check in at the rental desk you just go to the lot, show the attendant the ready pass, inspect the car then sign the agreement and head off.
I’ve used different codes across various rental companies and have never asked to present work ID. My work ID is a key fob. I’ve even had rental agents change my code to a different company for a better rate. They don’t care. It’s not their money.
Rising Star
I think it matters what the price delta is. During the height of covid when rentals were like $1k a day in some places but only $100 with my corporate rate, I got asked for ID every time. Before that though I almost never got asked
I've never been checked in terms of employment through Avis. Rent a car almost once a month for personal use, never been asked to verify anything outside normal driver's license and credit card. DC, Dallas, even a couple times in Europe.
Same here in Atlanta.
Enterprise asked almost every time
This is generally not a great idea. Yes you get a lower priced rental. But…renting through a corporate code usually gives you their insurance (eg if I rented under the EY code, I would have to decline all supplementary insurance & use the EY insurance). If you are not actually employed by said company…you may be left without insurance.
It’s the same code D1? My code is the same regardless of whether I’m renting for business or leisure
Hit or miss.
I have been using Avis since 2018, they asked for my ID twice so far at my neighborhood rental place.
I had an old company code and they didnt check my ID but knew I didnt work there and charged me over $700 a few months ago without notifying me. Luckily they let me update the one on my profile to my new rate but it tooks MONTHS to fix and amex wouldnt cover
