Hi there! As someone who has needed a visa in the past, I would say it's probably that. It's not impossible to find a company that's willing to sponsor you but it's very challenging. I've found that most smaller companies/startups here don't even understand the visa process or have a sponsorship license and they think it's very expensive/a lot of work (it's not!). This bias doesn't help. I've also gone through interviews all the way through to the final stage, only to be told then that they can't sponsor the visa/need someone to "start immediately" and so can't wait for the application process - they'd basically kept me as a backup if they couldn't find someone else who didn't need sponsorship. That being said, UX is on the skills shortage list so don't give up! Your expertise is definitely needed and someone who understands UX will be able to see your talent. A portfolio is essential. I'd also suggest googling "list of companies in the UK that have a sponsorship license" (you can download it from the gov site) and only apply to the ones that already can sponsor you (so if you see a job you like on LI, check if they're on the list - in the short term it will suck to find out that you can't even apply to some but in the long run it reduces the amount of disappointment from not getting responses/callbacks). Good luck and don't give up!
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement - I definitely needed that - and also for your advice - I would never have thought of that!
Hello, in EY I have colleagues from India so I guess they are willing to sponsor. You can have a look at this job ID 1078704 on EY careers. Or others openings. Let me know if I can help
Thanks a lot! I’m having a look right now. I’m definitely submitting an application for a senior designer role, I’ll let you know!
