Not worth it, there are better and less expensive career choices out there
There are a lot of opportunities in the industry but it really helps to get involved as soon as possible while in school if that's the route you want to go.
That having experience working in retail is a must. Learned this the hard way, unfortunately.
Pursue other healthcare careers with better hours and work / life balance. If you want to have children, most pharmacy jobs are terrible as far as scheduling and ability to take time off or tend to family members spontaneously.
Look into PA if you really want to go into Healthcare. Less school and similar pay plus usually more autonomy depending on the physicians you work with.
Try not to take things personal. A lot of times people are dealing with deeply personal and sometimes scary and upsetting medical issues. Always try to put yourself in their shoes so you can get a better understanding of where they are coming from emotionally. Have empathy and treat everyone with kindness.
I just graduated but tell them to have a clear path and explore non trad roles
Work during pharmacy school, whether it’s in a hospital or retail setting. I worked briefly in retail as a tech (less than 6 months) and then secured a paid internship at a hospital from P1-P4 year. Hands on experience makes a difference. Be ready to constantly network as well because it is competitive.
Work as hard as you can, even if you feel like no one’s watching… because you never know when your next big opportunity will walk in the door. Do you want them to see you slacking off or you hard at work? Also, it just builds good habits
Prepare yourself to work in retail at least part of your career. Ideally get experience as soon as possible.
If you work in retail - learn how to emotionally regulate before starting your first position. Shadow your manager as much as possible when it isn't busy, the faster you get the processes down the easier it'll be to feel confident. And professionalism is key.
People are not easy to deal with lol. I feel like you need more patience in this role than you would initially think
