Feeling unsure as they've improved in one area after I've put lots of time into coaching, but recently have shown there's still a lack of logic applied when I ask them to do a task independently. I've obviously fed back to my manager and HR that I've seen improvement and now I'm going to raise that there's issues again. Why do I feel like it's my fault 🙈
I'm new to people management so I'm second guessing everything. But I think it boils down to the fact that I just don't trust this person to work independently with checking every output. That would be fine if it was a junior/grad role but it's not?
Any advice/views/thoughts welcome
If this person slows down your work, then he/she is a negative asset. You are over thinking it, especially the person is on probation. Just tell the truth. You are not trying to be nice at work.
Thanks for the response - had the conversation with my manager and HR yesterday, out of my hands now but they know where I stand and everyone seemed to agree, so hopefully I'll get the go ahead next week to end things. Honestly feel so relieved to potentially have an end in sight, which says a whole lot about how things have been going!
