In general, most T2 and T1 firms will have you join at a level lower, to give you the time you need to ramp up and build the firms toolkit. It’s for your own good, trust me. The extra year at a lower level is not going to matter in the long run.
Not possible. Most likely you get the highest level at pre-manager (e.g., Snr. Assoc 3 at S&). At best if you perform exceptionally in the interviews and have some niche in-demamd expertise, you get entry level Manager.

Most T2s consider time at Big4 as 50% T2 tenure, so what M1 above has said is correct.

Similar thing happened to me a few years back; and after 1 year they can give you the promotion.
