Hey everyone. I was laid off Dec '24 from tech sales, and trying to get back into sales/support after applying constantly. Even with over 25 YOE, it feels like my age (50) is maybe a factor, honestly. Part-time work isn't sustainable long-term, and I'm seriously struggling mentally. What actual job search methods are getting you interviews right now?

These are good ideas. I'm in the same boat...and I'm also starting to think about doing something different like consulting on my own terms. I don't have a plan yet but in this down market, I'm planning to research it more

Since you have decades of experience, your network would be a great start. Reach out to former colleagues, friends, acquaintances, etc. Your experience gives you a unique perspective that younger candidates might not have. A personal connection can open doors that job boards can’t.

I’ve had better luck getting interviews by bypassing recruiters altogether. I look up the sales leaders on LinkedIn, shoot them a personalized message, and ask if they’re open to a quick intro chat. It’s hit or miss, but when it hits, it skips the line.

I am an experienced CNA/MA (17yrs) trying to break into ER tech role. Previous company wouldn’t pay for phlebotomy class, and when I took a position with a company that would train me, there was so much drama and b.s.
I was out of there so fast because of the toxic environment. Should I just forget it and do my best to finish my RN?
