Seeing how 401k’s, ira’s etc..are mostly based in stocks. What happens if we have another Great Depression and the stock market crash’s. Hi! I maxed out my Roth IRA this year.. recently changed jobs and it looks like I may just cross the income limit. What should I do?

I know my contribution but not sure of the dividend earned against this year's contributions. I have had the Roth for a few years now.

I max out my 401k and I have a decent emergency fund. I want to keep saving. From what I’ve been reading my next steps are an IRA and then a brokerage account. Questions:
1. How do I pick between a Roth vs a traditional IRA?
2. Once I hit the max of $6k - only then do I focus on brokerage account?
