WFH Poll. I vote full-remote.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I also have the same question.
So ... why be in Canberra if you're not going to go for Government jobs? It's the only reason to be there - move to a city with more private sector jobs? Melbourne or Sydney.
Well my visa as sponsored by Canberra so be to live here for two years. Wasn’t aware that searching job was challenge here as my exploration said there are private companies that hire without citizenship . However after coming I see such companies are hard to find
Canberra's tough in your situation, there's no getting away from it. Look to the universities, and private enterprise, such as it exists in Canberra.
There are a few start-ups spun out of the universities that that might work out - set up a chat with Reposit Power and pick their brains. Everything in Canberra is about who you know, but once you're in, everyone knows everyone (or a common friend).
