Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

10 YOE with 6 certs including PD1 and PD2.. the location is Parsipanny NJ..
Remember bonus is not guaranteed and it will likely be prorated so divide in half. I wouldn’t factor that in to your total comp until at least year two.
I would ask for sign on and relocation bonus.
150k is way too low, you should be at 180 minimum for HCOL. I’m seeing lead devs make 150k base in LCOL. Push them, you should clear at least 200 total comp. Some SAs are at 200 base. But if they can’t come up any higher, and you just want to leave Tata until the economy bounces back, I guess you can take it, but you’re always going be annoyed they didn’t pay you a fair salary. The other thing to consider is if it’s another consultancy or a profitable company?
No, once you accept the offer that’s it. To me, it’s not worth especially a relocation to HCOL. It also says a lot about the company to provide such a low ball offer. If I were you, I’d contact the recruiter and express that you’ve had some change in family dynamics and can no longer onboard. Apologize and reignite your search. It’s not great, but trust me…it will take forever to make what you should. Stay put and keep looking, you have in-demand skills.
You're just gonna have to drive an hour away to a cheaper part of NJ to make it worth it
You're worth more than 150k for the reported experience. Especially in the North New Jersey area. My guess is you told them your existing salary and they feel this is a big jump for you, while a savings for them because you'll be less than market value. You should be getting 180-225k depending on industry, heck even more if you go east and cross over into Manhattan, but your tax burden would be bonkers.
That being said, you should be ok at 150k in that area, you won't be whippin around in a G Wagon or anything, but you'll be doing ok, just be aware of the property taxes town to town if you're buying and avoid Montclair if you wanna save money. I live in Jersey City, but have bounced around NNJ and NYC over the last 10 years, I'd be happy to answer questions about the area if you want to reach out.
Also, just a heads up, JPMC has SF Lead Dev roles posted with a high end of 200k in JC, but everything is negotiable, and I've known people there who were making more than that with less experience.
It's still a good bump from where you're at, and if you start looking in a year or two you will be a lot closer to market value on the offers you receive. Best of luck in the new role and on the move to GA, it's a beautiful state!
150K is Not great, how many YOE? What certs do you have? NJ is very HCOL in parts closer to NY. Are you closer to PA or NYC?
He's on an H1b. Notoriously under paid
