I maybe wrong but I don’t feel good about working in D Especially during these times and their erratic behavior towards people on visa. I believe you may get approvals etc faster in the smaller firm than at D and the legal firm BAL is not too great either
OP, trust me, move out
Move out. But don’t give notice until h1b transfer is approved. If D wants to start gc, start.
I love my job at Deloitte . But given the history from past one year- I am just afraid what if they pause the process anywhere in next 2 steps ( recruitment or PERM).

It'll be way faster in the small firm.
I’m concerned staying at D, even with my visa maxing out in mid 2022.. as I’m scared if D will manage to make even this timeline..
I think Deloitte will swing whichever way the new administration sets the direction after nov elections. So wait and see it till nov. Until ten keep looking for your options.
Don’t waste time in Deloitte. It takes almost a year to file GC.
Pro
And they are just waiting to fire u as u get closer to ur expiration date !leave now it will help u get H1b transferred and extended of new co wants to keep u
I would stay at Deloitte if they are filing right away. Also communicate with them if there are going to file it now without delay since you don’t have much time left on your visa.
Oh then yes go for consulting and I would make sure the leadership is communicated why you are leaving.
Also, your PWD has not been filed yet. On very optimistic timelines, it takes 1 year to get perm approved. Which is not the case with Deloitte. I have seen people who were asked to leave the firm because of their H1b max out and no perm approved. So move out quickly .
No. Deloitte does not work that way. You have to create your own network. At max, if you have good relations with your partner and he/she has a good network, you can ask your partner to refer you to other partners in other countries including Canada, India, UK and Australia. Again, you have to go through other entities hiring process and immigration process .
I would ask the immigrants in that other firm about their experience in the last 1-2 years and push them for premium processing. If it’s positive, leave. D will do this in waves and I wouldn’t be surprised if they paused / unpaused multiple times
True . That is what I am worried about. If they pause the processing after my PWD. There is not much I can do other than leaving the country.

Agree with D3. Move
Didn’t know Deloitte is restarting the process!
Is it 😳. I guess they can’t proceed with recruitment until offices are open ..
How long does the whole GC process works?
I felt like your timing is tight anyway with only one year of h1b maxing out. I would take the bet moving as the new firm might move the process faster than Deloitte. But regardless there is chance neither firm can finish within one year
Even if it fall short of few months, one can chart out plan to go out of country and come back once permanent and h1 is extended
I am pretty much on the same boat and plan to change jobs as well. Would you mind sharing which service line are you at? I did not get any notifications that they are restarting PERM. I am wondering if it is due to different service lines or the max out time for the H1b on individual basis...
