What is wrong with me? Ex banker here who got absolutely burned out and exited to PE. Learned the hard way PE was no better so I landed at a cushy Corp dev job at a large tech making 200-250 working 30 hour weeks. This sounds like the dream right? But eventually I got bored and felt upside was limited. Wanted to try out a startup / unicorn due to FOMO during this hot funding market. Now I’m getting cranked at this unicorn despite friends warning me I’ll work a lot more at a startup.

My back hurts so I’ve been laying on the floor looking at Fishbowl all day instead of doing my job.

Anyone have any good office chair recos for sedentary potatoes that wfh?

@PWC is worst company for freshers. They are force innocents to resign by themselves and threating then to not to mail anyone and not share this context to anyone worst company, if layoff means ok removing and threatening to not to disclose to anyone means the have lost every single moral. 6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

Does anyone regret joining a boutique consulting firm? I signed with a startup out of college (spring 2020) whose founding partners were all partners/Sr leaders at a few T2s. Our firm is super small (dozen FTEs) but does really good work (we charge premium rates and work super cool projects). I’m just having second thoughts as exit opportunities aren’t as prevalent as I thought, the pay/benefits don’t match industry/risk of joint a startup, and I’m not getting the network of a Big4 or MBB
